I debate with Jon the Trucker about the facts of the Trayvon Martin case.

It's a marathon, and both of us were as short on facts as anyone else, but my point here is why do the conservatives fall in line against Trayvon and his family? What could the factor possibly be? Hmmm?

There may be a sad verdict in the end that this killing was legal, but there is no doubt forever that the killing was wrong.

This is a marathon -- over two hours. I know Jon the Trucker from Alan Colmes' show and Facebook. We debate quite a bit. I call this podcast "Rosetta stone" because I think liberals and conservatives speak different languages. Conservatives speak English, but they have scrambled their dictionary so that it doesn't respect history.

I preface our discussion with words from Tim Wise on how race has distorted the republican mind to have government intervention. Government intervention used to be for whites only, but as blacks were allowed to participate, suddenly it became too expensive. It's a fascinating analysis.

WTF? Iraq Should PAY US BACK?

Michelle Bachman claims that we should be paid back for invading Iraq and killing over 100,000 people. That's like a burglar leaving a bill.

I also touch on race quite a bit because of this post on Facebook about MLK Jr. It caused a right winger to call me a demagogue.

I talk about abortion and Herman Cain. Maybe a little religion in there too. So we have race, religion and politics. Shouldn't raise anyone's BP.

GOP: Debt? What Debt? We Only Care About NEW Bills.

I've been having a conversation on Facebook that spurred this podcast.

Here is an excerpt from one of my posts:

Deficit reduction as a solution to our problem is a fairy tale. Congress needs to talk about DEBT reduction.

We would have to cut all -- ALL -- deficit spending PLUS $400 billion to match our interest on the debt just to BREAK EVEN and carry that 14 trillion debt FOREVER. If we cut our spending by a whopping 1.5 trillion every year PLUS another $400 billion for good measure, We'd NEVER pay down the debt.

Cutting a billion here and there is nothing but posturing. Republicans aren't even HINTING about cutting a TENTH of that. YOU HAVE TO RAISE TAXES.

I think that instead of TALKING about paying down the debt, we SHOULD pay down the damned debt. It takes MONEY. The last time in your life that we paid down the debt was after Clinton raised the taxes AND we lowered spending. It's a 1-2 punch.

I want to send the government LESS money. You have money to burn AFTER you pay your bills. AFTER you work overtime. AFTER pain. Republicans aren't talking about paying the bills on the kitchen table. They are talking about spending a tiny bit less next week on paper towels. Spending $3 less next week on McDonald's doesn't get you out of your $20,000 debt from the past ten years EVER. The debt grows faster than you spending $3 less per week.

The interest on our debt is $400 billion per year, probably $500 billion soon. No matter how much we cut, unless we cut all ALL deficit spending PLUS $400 billion, our debt grows. PLUS probably at least another good $500 billion surplus, payment, We will NEVER pay down the debt.

We can cut our taxes in half AFTER we get rid of the debt. It's not good to have bills, but it IS good to spend money and GET RID of debt, which Clinton's tax rate would have done by 2009. You DON'T get rid of debt by spending less. You get rid of debt by PAYING it. You don't do that without money.

We don't need no stinking tax cuts! The rich certainly don't. In this episode, I point out the folly of arguing over the rich paying 3% more for their income tax when the bulk of their income is from capital gains, taxed at 15%, far less than the middle class pay. Obama has in the past, called for an even deeper capital gains tax rate, just like Ronald Reagan. I think this is the lowest point of Obama's administration.

I'm becoming more and more angry as I hear about Democratic anger and apathy. I ask, why should elected Demcrats stand up for us when we won't stand up for them. We listened to GOP lies in 1994 and threw Democrats out for 12 years for "over-reaching."

This year it's the same thing. Some of us say Democrats have overreached. The other half are saying you're not doing enough. Either way, the elected Democrats can't please the people who voted them in.

Miranda Protects Cops, not Citizens!

Today, I take on Miranda. Right wingers seem to think that by reading these words to a prisoner, rights are "given" to them. No! Nothing changes once you've read those words. Miranda protects COPS, protects the data gathered during interrogation, not prisoners! Why do Republican idiots continue to push for cops to make sloppy arrests and torture people? I have to admit that the first words you hear are actually the last ones recorded, but I thought I had to address it at the last moment.

This week I actually recorded a 4 hour conversation with Joe-6-pack of joe-6-pack.com, but I'll share a portion of that with you next week. This week I will talk primarily about race, particularly black women in media and how hard it is for them to grace the screen. If the topic of race discomforts you, you should stop the recording after we speak of healthcare and insurance.

But first, I show how Al Franken mercilessly takes apart a GOP liar. I like it when a lie is called a lie, but Al Franken stops just short of using words like lie and dishonest. He does ask to have an honest debate.

I also poke my nose into the notion of how much we are controlled by insurance companies. Not just the health insurance companies.
